TravelJigsaw Insurance Limited is an insurance company formed in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act (Companies Carrying on Business of Insurance) Regulations, having its registered office at Development House, St. Anne Street, Floriana, FRN 9010, Malta and is incorporated and existing under the laws of Malta and under such laws is licensed to conduct insurance and/or reinsurance business.

TravelJigsaw Europe Limited is a Tied Insurance Intermediary (TII) incorporated in Malta and having its registered office at Development House, St. Anne Street, Floriana, FRN 9010, Malta and is incorporated and existing under the laws of Malta. TravelJigsaw Europe Limited is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority and acts as the Distributor on behalf of TravelJigsaw Insurance Limited by offering and selling insurance policies to EEA residents.

Booking.com Transport Limited (“Rentalcars.com”) is a private limited liability company, incorporated under the laws of the United Kingdom with offices at 35 Fountain Street, Manchester, M2 2AN.

TravelJigsaw Insurance Limited and Rentalcars.com shall be the joint data controllers of your personal data. Rentalcars.com’s Privacy Notice can be found at rentalcars.com/en/privacy.

Any references to “we”, “us” or “our” is a reference to TravelJigsaw Insurance Limited.



Privacy

​Your privacy matters to us. And we are committed to protecting any personal data that is processed by us. This statement explains how we collect, use and protect any information about you. It also tells you how to contact us if you have any questions about it.

We may change this statement from time to time; so please check back here for any updates.

We offer insurance products through the platforms (such as websites and mobile apps) of Rentalcars.com. We also do this through Rentalcars.com’s business partners’ websites, social media and other platforms. This statement applies to all the personal data we collect while we’re doing this, or when you contact by email, live chat, phone or post. If you purchase an insurance product via one of Rentalcars.com’s EEA based platforms, the product will be distributed to you by Booking.com Transport Limited, on behalf of TravelJigsaw Insurance Limited.

When you purchase an insurance product via one of Rentalcars.com’s platforms you will be asked for the personal data needed to provide you with that insurance product. This may include the main driver’s name, age, contact details (email, address and telephone number), date and place of birth, passport information, driving licence information and payment information.

Providing your personal data to us is voluntary. However, depending on the type of service you may want to use, we may only be able to provide you with this service if certain personal data is collected. For instance, we cannot process your booking if we do not collect your name and contact details.

We use your personal data for the purpose of providing you with an insurance product, and handling any complaints or claims relating to such insurance product (if any), which may require us to share your personal data with Rentalcars.com and other third parties, which may include subsidiaries of the Rentalcars.com corporate family and affiliates of the Booking Holdings Inc corporate group (as explained below). We may also share your personal data with regulators, government or investigative authorities if required by law, or if it is strictly necessary for the prevention, detection or prosecution of criminal acts.

We don’t provide services to children under the age of 18 and we reserve the right to delete any information we may receive from a child under this age. We may receive information about children in certain situations, such as an insurance claim or a customer service dispute. If that happens, we will only collect and use that information with the consent of the child’s parent or guardian.

The transmission of personal data as described in this statement may include overseas transfers of personal data to countries whose data protection laws are not as comprehensive as those of the United Kingdom and countries within the European Union. Where required by applicable law, we shall only transfer personal data to recipients offering an adequate level of data protection. In these situations, as may be required, we make contractual arrangements to ensure that your personal data is still protected in line with UK and European standards. If we use automated means to process personal data which produces legal effects or significantly affects you, we will implement suitable measures to safeguard you rights and freedoms, including the right to obtain human intervention.

We may receive personal data about you from other companies of the Booking.com Holdings Inc. corporate group or share your personal data with them for the following purposes:

  3. To detect, prevent and investigate fraud, other illegal activities and data breaches;
  4. For analytical and product improvement purposes;
  5. To provide personalised offers or send you marketing with your consent, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law;
  6. for hosting, storing, technical support, overall maintenance and maintaining security of such shared data; and
  7. To ensure compliance with applicable laws.

Unless indicated otherwise, for purposes A to F, we rely on our legitimate interest to share and receive personal data. For example, we work closely with Booking.com to offer improved, car rental, taxi and attractions services accommodation and attractions services to our customers, and all companies within the Booking Holdings Inc. group of companies may need to exchange customer personal data to ensure it protects all users from fraudulent activities on its platforms.

For purpose G, we rely where applicable on compliance with legal obligations (such as lawful law enforcement requests).



Security & Retention

In accordance with applicable Maltese and European data protection laws, we observe reasonable procedures to prevent unauthorised access to and misuse of personal data.

Our business systems and procedures ensure we take all reasonable steps to protect your personal data in accordance with UK and European data protection laws. We also have specific security procedures and technical and physical restrictions on accessing and using the personal data on our servers. Only authorised personnel are permitted to access personal data in the course of their work.

We will retain your personal data for as long as we deem it necessary to enable you to use our services, to provide our insurance services to you, to comply with applicable laws, to resolve disputes with any parties and otherwise as necessary to allow us to conduct our business, including to detect and prevent fraud or other illegal activities.
